Are you making a difference in YOUR community? Are you involved in an organization that could benefit from sponsorship from Dlush? Dlush LOVES helping our community, and we’ve supported events such as the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Wish Warriors, Aztec Danceathon, Splash for Cash, etc. Is your organization hosting an event? We’d love to be there! Just let us know the who/what/when/where and we’ll take it from there. We’ve donated thousands of drinks to worthy causes, and your cause could be next!
Autism Awareness and the Autism Society San Diego hold a special place in our hearts here at Dlush, so we do whatever we can to promote this awesome cause. Last year, Dlush hosted an amazing campaign to support Autism Awareness, called 30 Days of Happy! This happy campaign invited friends to order the limited edition Happy Camper drink, and $1 from every drink went straight to charity. All of the proceeds went to help send children with Autism to summer camp, so it not only went to a great cause, but it helped improve the lives of children living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This year, Dlush remains committed to helping this amazing cause through sponsoring fundraisers like Splash for Cash. If you’d like to get involved, donate or come out to Splash for Cash on April 26 at Aqua Pros Swim School! More information here: https://autismsocietysandiego.org
It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and at Dlush, we love love! We love all forms of love, whether it is romantic love, friendly love, sisterly/brotherly love, or community love. Jessica Torres, an incredible 5th year Human Development major here at UCSD, encompasses the definitions of sisterly love and community love. Jessica just came back from Semester At Sea, a study abroad program that takes participants all over the world. She experienced other cultures, peoples, and places, and she has taken what she has learned back with her. Sharing her love for culture is second-nature to Jessica, considering she is very active in Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc, a Latina-interest sorority on campus. When Jessica joined this organization, it was mostly out of searching for a reason to stay at UCSD. Before joining Lambda Theta Nu, she did not feel as if she had any ties to UCSD. Instead of dropping out, she gave the school one last shot by joining Lambda Theta Nu. She has not looked back since. According to Jessica, Lambda Theta Nu’s pillars of community service, academics, and sisterhood bring out the best in her. Jessica and her sorority host an annual conference hosted here at UCSD for Latina middle and high school girls, the Latina Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC). This incredible conference takes months of planning, which includes Dlush fundraisers to help fund the conference. Jessica’s love for her sisters and her community are so inspiring, and she is only going forward from here.
Need something to do this Friday from 5-7pm on campus? Join Rebecca Gosla and her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, at our Dlush fundraiser to support the Arthritis Foundation, their national philanthropy which focuses on raising both money and awareness to combat juvenile arthritis. This fundraiser is kickstarting UCSD Alpha Omicron Pi’s series of fundraisers to support their new philanthropy event, the Alpha Games. The incredible organizer of the Dlush fundraiser, Rebecca Gosla, is a first year Cognitive Science major who has already hit the ground running in her chapter as the Assistant Vice President of Membership Recruitment. When she joined Alpha Omicron Pi just last quarter, she felt as if she immediately clicked with her outgoing and very supportive sisters. Now, in addition to her sorority position, Rebecca has taken a position as a writer for HerCampus, and this amazing young woman (and, fun fact, talented dancer) is taking the UCSD campus by storm! So, come join Rebecca and her sisters this Friday, February 6 from 5-7pm at Dlush at UCSD. Don’t know which of our drinks to try? Rebecca recommends her favorite, Xtra-C.
Especially today, there are no excuses. Living in a world on the teeter of climate change and the habitual exploitation of the economically challenged, companies, regardless of the industry, need to step up their social responsibility and do their part for a sustainable globe. That’s why we’ve partnered with Cafe Moto for our coffee, espresso, and teas. Cafe Moto is a local roaster based here, in San Diego, sourcing their coffees and teas from organic and fair trade growers. To top it off, their facility where they roast and prepare their products is solar powered (Check them out here to find out more about their story and the products they offer). So, the next time you swing by Dlush and grab an americano or latte, know that you’re doing your part in helping promote a sustainable world.
As a part of the 12 Days of Dlush, we gave out 35 Dlush glass bottles each day. The response was overwhelming. Throughout the first two weeks of December, we spread sustainability campus wide, and had a ton of fun doing it. So, we thought, why stop now? Even though the 12 Days of Dlush are sadly over, we are extending our bottle program, It’s What’s Inside That Counts! We will still be giving out glass bottles along with a yoba beverage purchase throughout this week and beyond. Environmentalism and sustainability never ends, so we aren’t going to either! And remember, bring your glass Dlush bottles back for future drinks and receive a 10 cent discount!
During the first twelve days of December, Dlush is rolling out two exciting programs where you’ll have the chance to win free Dlush drinks, food, and merchandise! December 1st-12th are the 12 Days of Dlush. Throughout these days, we’ll give out hints and special instructions over our social media feeds (Instagram: @Dlushlife, Facebook: facebook.com/dlushlife). When you follow the hints or instructions, you get rewarded with free Dlush!
As part of the 12 Days of Dlush, we are also giving out 35 glass Dlush bottles each day for our It’s What’s Inside That Counts initiative to support sustainability. Sweet deal, right? Stay posted on Instagram and Facebook, the fun starts next week!
If our bright pink shirts and pink vinyl wrapping covering most of our San Diego location didn’t clue you in, October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we partnered with Susan G. Komen to “Own October” and handed out pink raffle tickets with every purchase. The premise behind the raffle tickets is very simple yet amazingly exciting: when we choose a winning number, the person who claims their prize with that ticket receives free Dlush drinks for a year. That wasn’t a typo. One year. 365 straight days of pure bliss.
The time is now! Do you have a raffle ticket? Here’s what you do: return to Dlush with your raffle ticket from now until Friday, and we will collect both the ticket and your contact information. On Friday at noon, we will draw a ticket and give the lucky winner a call.
Why are you still reading this? Get down to Dlush now and get your chance to win free drinks for a year! Good luck!
Dlush is constantly striving to get involved in the community and make our impact for good as in the biggest way possible. To show this, Dlush was out in force at the 2014 Challenged Athletes Foundation Triathlon a few weeks ago, held at La Jolla Cove. The Challenged Athletes Foundation’s mission is to promote and provide active lifestyle opportunities for the physically disabled. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, as we handed out over 1,500 free drinks to athletes and spectators alike. It was a truly inspiring experience, and reminded us here at Dlush about the truly important aspects of life.
